Required Diversity Awareness Education
As UAB grows more diverse, creating an environment of inclusiveness and respect is more important than ever. One goal at UAB is to education faculty and staff on the importance of diversity and issues of equitable treatment of all people without regard to race, culture, age, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic class or any other different e. Recognizing and appreciating the value of diversity is critical to UAB’s vision of being an internationally known research university.
ALL EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DIVERSITY AWARENESS (DAE) PROGRAM WITHIN THE FIRST 30 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT. This is a 2-part class comprised of on-line and in-classroom learning.
To Complete DAE Part 1:
1. Click on this link http://www.uab.edu/equityanddiversity/
- Complete Part 1 of the Diversity Awareness Education Program by selecting the appropriate “here” button. Read/Scroll/Listen to the training session - through slide number 32.
- On slide #32 there will be a link to click on that will take you to a screen that calls for your Blazer ID and password. This is necessary for you to be counted as having completed Phase I of this training.
- A prompt will appear asking you to check a box that states “I have viewed the Presentation in its entirety and I am ready to register for Part II of the Diversity Awareness Education Program”.
- Enter your Blazer ID (in lower case letters) and then your password.
- A prompt will appear asking you to “Click Here to Continue”.
- A screen of the upcoming classes for Phase II will appear. Please choose by clicking in the “Add” column the course you want to sign up to attend. This will automatically enroll you in this course.
- Click “Return to Menu” to clear out of the system.
- You can now Logout. Please email Ms. Karen Buckner at buckner@uab.edu stating you have completed Phase I of the Diversity Awareness Training.
- Upon your attending the Phase II session, the School of Nursing will be sent a notice of completion for your training. If you do not attend this session, you will not receive credit for completing the training.
