Procedure to complete the Blood Borne Pathogens Testing
Required Annually
1. Click on http://main.uab.edu/
Select: “Departments” under the Academics heading
Select: “Administrative Department”
Select: “Letter O”
Select: “Occupational Health & Safety” – You should now be ready for the next step.
2. Click on the “Education & Training” button on the top bar of options
3. Scroll your page down to the heading “Research Safety”
4. Select: BIO3000 Blood Borne Pathogens.
5. Enter your Blazer ID in the appropriate box and select the “Login” button.

6. Select the “View Course Information Page” – this page outlines the instructions for the online training.
7. You can select the “Back Arrow” screen option on the top of your screen to proceed to the next step or select the line at the bottom of the page that says to “Click Here to Proceed to Course”, which will take you directly into the “View The Course Material” (the next step). If you selected the “Back Arrow” button on the top of the page, you should then select the “View The Course Material” option.
8. Review the material – you can advance to the next page by selecting the “Next Page” option on the top right of each page or you can scroll down to the bottom of each page and select “Next Page” from there.
9. When you get to the last page you can select the “Download the Test by Clicking Here” option and be able to print out the test for future review; however, you must take the test online for your score to be sent electronically. To get to the online test you can select the “Previous” page button and back your way out of the review section to the “Blood Borne Pathogens” page – the screen that appears immediately following the Blazer ID login (see #5 above) or you can close out an log back into the site and choose the “Take The Test” option (thus repeat steps 1-5 above).
10. Choose the “Take The Test” option. Proceed with taking the test. Please follow the directions on each page in order to insert your answer electronically. You can click on the blue arrow on the box beside the phrase “PLEASE SELECT YOUR ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION” to allow you to select your answer from the choices given. Once you select your answer you must select the “Submit Answer” button.
11. Once you have completed all 17 questions the test will automatically grade and show you what your score was for taking the test. It will tell you whether or not you passed based on your scoring percentage. To pass you must achieve a 70% or greater pass rate.
12. To exit the program you can simply select the “Return to OHS Home” option. You have now completed the training. It is recommended that you review the material for any questions you may have missed.
