The UASON is committed to development of strong, quality community partnerships that support the mission of the School of Nursing. Community partnerships provide an opportunity for faculty to be engaged in community activities that support the teaching, research and scholarship, and service/practice missions of the UASON. Community partnerships include clinical practice agreements, partnerships for specific products within the organization/agency, health promotion programs, and specific consultation work within an organization or community. The Office of Clinical Affairs and Partnerships provides oversight in the development, management, implementation, and evaluation of all community partnership activities and is facilitated by Dr. Alberta McCaleb, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Partnerships. Current examples of Community Partnerships include, but are not limited to the following:
- Dr. Kathleen Brown, City of Birmingham/School of Nursing Occupational Health Services Unit and Good Health Program
- Dr. Alberta McCaleb, Co-Coordinator of UABH Nurse Residency Program
- Dr. Alberta McCaleb, Interdisciplinary Health Professions Elective, George Washington Carver High School and UAB Center for Outreach Development
- Dr. Norm Keltner, Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Outpatient Clinics
