For many years the School of Nursing has had strong ties to Chiang Mai University in Thailand. Many Thai students have attended the master’s and doctoral programs at UAB, and we also have an affiliation with Chiang Mai in which doctoral students may elect to come to UAB for one year during their 3 year doctoral program. During their year at UAB, students take courses that support their program, and also work with UAB nursing faculty to develop their dissertation proposals. In September, 2006, Dr. Gail Hill consulted with the Faculty of Nursing Thammasat University Rangsit Campus in Pathumthani, Thailand to assist in the development of a family nurse practitioner program. During her visit, Dr. Hill: (a) developed the curriculum for an international program (in English) for a post-BSN cardiovascular specialization ; (b) developed the curriculum for a Master’s Adult Clinical Specialist Program; (c) developed the curriculum for a Master’s Community Nurse Practitioner Program; (d) lectured to the Master’s students on musculoskeletal assessment ; and (e) sat on two committees to select faculty and students to receive scholarships to visit nursing schools in the United States. She had a busy month! Please visit Thammasat University website.
