Nu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) has a long and rich history. Our chapter was the 12th STTI, chapter to be established, in 1958. Over the years, Nu chapter has initiated numerous projects, including sponsoring scholarships, research grants, leadership awards, research days, educational meetings for STTI members and members of the larger community, fund-raising activities, and other projects that support the goals of STTI.
As of January 2006 the chapter had a total of 330 active members and 1573 inactive members. Many of the inactive members have moved to other areas in the U.S. or other parts of the globe, so our chapter is truly a global community! The chapter inducts new members three times each year, including students in the BSN, MSN, and doctoral programs at UAB, as well as outstanding nursing leaders.
