Welcome to the Website of Nu Chapter of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI)! Our chapter was chartered in 1958, the 12th chapter to be chartered by STTI. To learn more about our rich history, please explore the section of our web page that describes the history since our founding nearly 70 years ago! The goals of our chapter reflect the vision and mission of STTI which are:
- to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world's people and
- to support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.

The Orientation for new members will be Tuesday April 21st from 11-2 in GO20 at the SON. We will tell about membership in Nu chapter, annual events and ways to connect through committees and other projects. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP for Induction and Orientation.
Induction will be held on Sunday April 26th at Hill University Center, Alumni Auditorium. Inductees should arrive by 1:30. A reception will follow.
The Induction Speaker will be M. Esther Moring, RN, Doctors Without Borders
Reminder: All new inductees should complete acceptance by March 31st online at the international website www.nursingsociety.org. For questions, contact Lana Nealand lnealand@uab.edu or Ellen Buckner bucknere@uab.edu . Purple honor cords should be purchased by that date, also online, and will be sent to your home address.
The campaign to establish a Living Legacy is being launched by Nu Chapter in memory of Dr. Margaret Millsap, first President of Nu Chapter and a visionary leader in nursing in Alabama. It is in the spirit of her legendary vision, leadership, and commitment to nursing that we initiate this campaign. Donations go to an advanced practice nurse scholarship in her name at the UAB School of Nursing. Donations may be sent to UAB School of Nursing Development Office, Room 219, 1530 3rd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35294-1210.
