Dr. John C. Wellons graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1995, and completed his neurosurgical residency at Duke University, under the guidance of Dr.Allan Friedman. Dr.Wellons then completed his fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Children's Hospital of Alabama, achieving board certification in 1999. Subsequently, he joined the faculty at Children's Hospital. Dr.Wellons currently serves as the Assistant Residency Program Director at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
Dr. Wellons treats the entire range of pediatric neurosurgical conditions. He specializes in the surgical treatment of peripheral nerve, brain tumors, neuroendoscopy and minimally invasive techniques. Dr.Wellons sees patients at the Children's Hospital of Alabama, each week on Mondays and Thursdays. Appointments can be made by calling 205-939-9856.
