John Kuglin
John is currently Chief Information Officer for the Eagle County School District in Vail, Colorado, and is also an internationally recognized consultant and keynote speaker. Prior to this position, he served as Vice President of Educational Programs for Comchoice Inc. Prior to Comchoice, John retired as the Associate Dean for Continuing Education at the University of Montana where he initiated the first complete online course environment and served as Executive Director for a multi-million dollar NASA research grant at UM which targeted classroom teachers. During his career, John was featured on CNN for his innovative uses of technology in his classroom. USA Today selected him as one of ten teachers nationwide to be named as a 'Power Teacher'. He was named one of the Top 25 Education Technology Advocates in the United States by District Administrator magazine. He testified before the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation about new and emerging technologies in the classroom. John co-wrote and served as the on-air host for a ten part technology series on The Learning Channel called Best Seat in the Class, as well as numerous other nationally televised teacher in-service programs. He has also consulted with the Department of Defense to advance their online learning initiative.
Dr. Charles Dziuban
Charles Dziuban is Director of the Research Initiative for Teaching Effectiveness at the University of Central Florida (UCF) where has been a faculty member since 1970 teaching research design and statistics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. Since 1996, he has directed the impact evaluation of UCF's distributed learning initiative examining student and faculty outcomes as well as gauging the impact of online courses on the university. Chuck has published in numerous journals including Multivariate Behavioral Research, The Psychological Bulletin, Educational and Psychological Measurement, the American Education Research Journal, the Phi Delta Kappan, the Internet in Higher Education, the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks, and the Sloan-C View. He has received funding from several government and industrial agencies including the Ford Foundation, Centers for Disease Control, and the National Science Foundation. In 2000, Chuck was named UCF's first ever Pegasus Professor for extraordinary research, teaching, and service and in 2005 received the honor of Professor Emeritus. He has co-authored or edited numerous books and chapters on blended and online learning including Handbook of Blended Learning Environments, Educating the Net Generation, and Blended Learning: Research Perspectives. In 2005, Chuck received the Sloan Consortium award for Most Outstanding Achievement in Online Learning by an Individual. In 2007, he was appointed to the National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Literacy Policy Council.
