Administrative Systems : Oracle HR and Financial  Applications

The Administrative Systems is an integrated suite of Human Resource (HR) and Finance modules used by the University of Alabama at Birmingham for administrative operations and record keeping. It is a web-based system that includes a self-service application for all employees as well as HR and finance applications for staff and faculty to conduct day-to-day business. The Administrative Systems use the Oracle database and the system may be referred to as "Oracle".

The HR Administrative system includes the following modules: Core Human Resources Management (HR), Advanced Benefits, Payroll and Time and Labor, Labor Distribution (LD) and Effort Reporting, and Self Service.

The Finance Administrative system includes the following modules: General Ledger (GL), Purchasing (Pur), Accounts Payable (AP), Grants/Plant Accounting (GA), and Accounts Receivable (AR) for sponsored projects only.

Oracle HR and Finance Training Application

The training application is accessible using a campus IP address or using the campus VPN.  Note:  The data in this application is a clone (copy) of production and, therefore, not current data.

 

Oracle Online User Manual (Documentation)

This online user manual is designed to provide End Users of the Administrative Systems with the information and instructions needed to use the Self Service applications and the Human Resources and Finance modules.  New employees may use this documentation as a training manual, beginning with the Overview and then selecting only the documentation for each responsibility shown on their Personal Home Page.

Overview covers the basic information about the system, from logging on the system to basic navigation information. System access is defined and instructions for obtaining access are found in Access-Responsibilities. Select Workflow to learn about workflow and the approval process for the different types of documents.

Beneath the Human Resources heading is a list of all of the end user HR responsibilities with instructions for using each of the menu options within a responsibility. Select a responsibility to view a description of the responsibility, followed by a list of the menu options available with links to instructions for using each of the menu options.

Beneath the Finance heading is a list of all of the end user Finance responsibilities with instructions for using each of the menu options within a responsibility. Select a responsibility to view a description of the responsibility, followed by a list of the menu options available with links to instructions for using each of the menu options. Additional information, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and links to related information may also be included.
