For the Microsoft Campus Agreement the following items are covered for all Faculty/Staff on UAB owned/leased systems (including University owned lab computers):
- Microsoft Campus Desktop (consisting of Office Professional, Windows Upgrade and Core CALs)
- Office Enterprise for Windows includes: Access, Excel, InfoPath, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, One Note, and Groove. For more information on Office 2007 see Office 2007. For more information on Office 2010, see Office 2010.
(Note: Office 2010 availability expected late fall 2010).
- Office for Mac 2008 Professional includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage, Virtual PC for Mac.
- Core CALs (Client Access Licenses) consist of the client access license for Windows Server, Exchange Server, Systems Management Server, and SharePoint Portal Server.
- CALs for Windows Terminal Server are included only up through Windows Server 2003.
- Windows Upgrade requires that a full operating system already be licensed on the system. Only a right to upgrade is included here.
- UAB faculty and staff may continue to use and install previous versions.
- Microsoft Campus Server Platform
UAB's campus agreement covers the following server applications and all associated CALs for faculty, staff, and students:
- Windows Server - all editions
- SharePoint Server - all editions including Internet sites
- Exchange Server - all editions
- System Center Config Manager - server and ML Std & Enterprise
- All external connectors
- SQL Server
- BizTalk Server
- MS Desktop Optimization Pack (faculty/staff only)
- All CALs for the above server product
- Windows Remote Desktop CALs (old Windows Terminal Server)
Software should be requested via the IT Software Library.
- Home Use
Faculty/Staff are also allowed to install one copy of the Home Use version of Office and one copy of the home use version of Windows. These are for faculty/staff exclusive use on a single home or portable system that they own/lease with the following limitations.
- Media for the install is available for a nominal fee through Barnes & Noble @ UAB Bookstore. Faculty/Staff may not use the same media as provided to them for installation of the applications on their UAB owned equipment, but must use the specific media and license keys provided through the Bookstore.
- Use of the software on a home system may only be for work-related purposes and must be deleted upon termination of the Campus Agreement or upon faculty/staff separation from UAB.
- A valid Microsoft operating system must already be in place on the home system. Only upgrade rights are included with the home use license.
Faculty/Staff must sign a Home Use Acceptance Form at the time of license purchase at the Bookstore indicating their understanding and acceptance of the license rights
