Java Runtime Environment and the Mac OS X 10.6

Apple is releasing Mac OS X 10.6 on August 28^th, 2009.  UAB IT is in the initial stages of testing JAVA SE 1.6 on Mac OS X 10.6.  Users will be notified once testing has been successfully completed, and we have a release timeline.  Until that time, the Oracle HR & Finance system will be accessible for users of OS X 10.6 from IT terminal servers via remote desktop sessions.

To use this service please see the following steps:

1. Download Microsoft's Remote Desktop Client for Mac (http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/remote-desktop/default.mspx) 
2. Install software
3. Enter ITCS-TERMSVC as the computer name
4. Contact AskIT by email as AskIT@uab.edu, or by phone, 205-996-5555, to be added to the permissions group to use this service.
