Configuring Thunderbird to check IMAP Email

  • Start Thunderbird
  • Pull down the File menu and select New and then select Accounts
  • Select the Email Account button and click Next

     

    •  

  • Enter Your Name and BlazerID@uab.edu and click Next.

    •  

  • In the Server Information window enter:
    • My Incoming Mail server is: choose (IMAP
    • Incoming Mail Server: mail.ad.uab.edu
    • Outgoing Mail Server: relay.ad.uab.edu
    • Then click Next
  • In the "Outgoing Server" window, enter:
    • Description: Relay.ad.uab.edu
    • Server Name: relay.ad.uab.edu
    • Port: 587
    • Select Use name and password:  enter your user BlazerID
    • Select TLS
    • Then Click OK
  • Go to Tools Menu -> Account Settings
    • Select BlazerID@uab.edu
    • Select Server Settings
    • Ensure port 993 is set and SSL is selected.
