Configuring Eudora 5.2 for Windows using POP3 or IMAP

  1. Start Eudora
  2. Pull down the Tools menu and select Options (screenshot)
  3. In the Getting Started window, enter the following: (screenshot)
    • Real Name: "Your Name"
    • Return Address: blazerid@uab.edu
    • Mail Server (Incoming): mail.ad.uab.edu
    • Login Name: "Your BlazerID"
    • SMTP Server(Outgoing): vera.dpo.uab.edu
  4. Click on Checking Mail and select Required, Alternate Port in the Secure Socket when Receiving pull-down menu (screenshot)
  5. Next, scroll down to the Incoming Mail  window and under Server Configuration, select POP or IMAP (screenshot) - see Clients & Protocols for further explanation
  6. Click OK to begin using Eudora

* Read Eudora documentation to understand and configure other settings.

If you receive this error message: SSL Negotiation Failed: Certificate Error: Cert chain not trusted. Follow the directions below for adding a Cert to your certificate database.

  1. Close warning box in center of screen
  2. Go back to Tools>Options>Checking Mail
  3. Select Last SSL Info under Secure Sockets when Receiving
  4. Select Certificate Information Manager at the bottom of box
  5. Select Add to trusted button
  6. Certificate reads: 'US, Equifax, Equifax Secure Certificate Authority' (see screenshot, below)
