Setting Up Spam Filter Rules with Entourage

Article Body

  1. Open Entourage.
  2. Click on the Inbox.
  3. Click on File > New > Folder.
  4. Name the new folder "Spam Mail."

  5. Click on Tools > Rules.
  6. Select New.
  7. Under Rule Name, enter UAB Spam Marking.

  8. Select "Any header" from the pull down menu under Criterion. Make sure "if all criteria are met" is selected next to Execute.

  9. Select "Contains" from the menu that appears next to "Any header."
  10. Type "X-Spam-Level: *****" exactly as shown (with no quotes) in the space provided.

  11. Under "Add Action" select from the pull-down menu "Move Message".
  12. Select the Spam Mail folder you created in step 2-4.

  13. Make sure the rule is enabled and select OK.

That's it! Monitor the Spam Mail folder so that you can clean it out occasionally and ensure that some mail hasn't made it there accidentally. You control the level of spam filtering by adjusting the number of stars in your filter.

If spam is still getting through, you can change the "X-Spam-Level: *****" to X-Spam-Level: ****" and so on until you have reached the desired level of filtering.
