You can fully utilize a DPO account only if you have access to a network-attached computer, either through connection to the UAB campus network, or by subscribing to an Internet service provider (ISP) such as BellSouth.net. The computer must have an FTP (Internet File Transfer Protocol) client installed. Most systems today have at least a minimal command-line FTP available, and more elaborate GUI-based clients are available for download at little or no cost.
