SOLUTION:

"Spam is like potholes"

If you complain about them long enough, hard enough, and to the right people, it will probably get fixed.  Until the next one opens up.

It's easier to just drive around them or find another route.

The pothole will likely get fixed eventually, no matter what.  Complaining may make it happen faster, but don't count on it.  Lots of other folks have probably complained too, about that and many other things as well.

Volumes have been written on this. Just search google.com with the phrase "how do i stop spam".

If you receive unsolicited e-mail, originating at UAB, in the form of for-profit advertising, or unwelcome or harassing messages, you should notify UserServices. UAB's Information Technology Policies and Guidelines specifically prohibit the use of the UAB network for SPAM (E-mail junk mail) and describes other types of violations.

Send US the Full set of Message HEADERS. The best way to be sure User Services receives this information is to FORWARD the message and FULL HEADERS to UserServices@uab.edu, using your e-mail programs FORWARD button. When you FORWARD the message, insert your own words at the top of the message and paste the copied full set of headers before it gets sent.

In order for us to track down the source of the abuse you received, we have to have the full set of headers, including all of the "Received:" lines which trace the path of the mail through the network. Without them, we cannot determine the actual origin point or time of transmission, and we cannot report it to the proper authorities or take action against the ABUSER.
