On July 25th, UAB IT will make modifications to enhance the Spamblocker service. Based upon statistics gathered over the past six months and recommendations from the spamblocker company, spam scored at 100 or greater will now be discarded. Scoring is the numerical value assigned to a message indicating the likelihood it is spam. Previously, UAB was deleting spam scored over the 100 numerical rating. With this change, our statistics show that we will eliminate 98% of emails considered to be certain spam, leaving only 2% of suspected spam email held in the Spamblocker quarantine. A Spamblocker-End User Digest is sent to a user when there are messages in their quarantine. However with this change, users should receive far fewer digests since there will be less spam in quarantine. Users will continue to have the option of logging in to Spamblocker to manage their own account settings. If you need assistance, please contact AskIT at 205-996-5555, or by email at AskIT@uab.edu.
