Spam Blocker Service Features Daily Email from 'spamblocker@uab.edu'

Article Body

On March 21, UAB IT implemented a new and improved spam blocking service.  Users of UAB's Central Exchange, as well as all users who have an @uab.edu email address, now benefit from the enhanced features of the "Spamblocker" service.  Each user has a spam quarantine, from which messages are deleted after seven days.  Users receive a daily digest email from 'spamblocker@uab.edu' displaying all messages placed in quarantine in the last 24 hours. The digest provides several options for managing these messages:

  • View - opens the message for review.
  • Release - removes the message from quarantine and sends it to your Inbox.
  • Safelist - adds author’s email address to your safe senders list allowing all future emails from that sender to bypass quarantine.
  • Not Spam -  allows the system to recognize that the message is legitimate, and comparable messages sent in the future should not be marked as spam.

Users may also click the “Help” button to view Spamblocker User Instructions.
