There are summer research intern programs here on campus that are designed to bring together undergraduate students from all over the U.S. and expose them to opportunities in research and lab work in a graduate studies setting.
Four of these programs collaborated on the Summer Research Intern Poster Session held at the Bevill Biomedical Research Building on July 20, 2004. The participating programs were: The UAB Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, The UAB Bridges to the Baccalaureate Program, The UAB REU Physics Program, and the UAB SIBS Program.
Dr. Bertice Berry, award-winning entertainer, author, and educatur, was the keynote speaker.
Sponsored by The Graduate School, the poster session included 49 student participants and 12 faculty judges. Awards were given in the Cancer and Neurobiology, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Public Health catagories.
