The summer research intern programs here on campus are designed to bring together undergraduate students from all over the U.S. and expose them to opportunities in research and lab work in a graduate studies setting.
The 2005 Summer Research Intern Poster Session was held at the Bevill Biomedical Research Building on Tuesday, July 26. The undergraduate programs represented were Environmental Health and Engineering Summer 2005 Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program, Genetics Summer Intern Program, REU Site: Neuroscience Research for Undergraduates at UAB, Research Experience for Undergraduates Program in Chemistry, Summer in Biomedical Sciences (SIBS) Undergraduate Research Program, UAB DoEd Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, and UAB NIH Bridges to the Baccalaureate Program.
Sponsored by The Graduate School, the poster session included 70 student participants and 18 faculty judges. Awards were given in Chemistry, Engineering, Life Sciences, Neurosciences, Physiology, and Public Health & Humanites catagories.
