Ms. Marcienne Wright is a graduate student who will receive her doctorate in biochemistry and molecular genetics at UAB in August. She has worked as a research staff scientist at UAB since 1995 after graduating from Williams College with a bachelor's in biology. Her basic science translational research background includes studies in human gene therapy for cancer and in free radical-mediated protection from vascular inflammation. She has authored or co-authored 15 publications in peer-reviewed biomedical journals and earned multiple scientific merit awards, including ones from the United Negro College Fund – Merck Foundation (Graduate Dissertation Research Award) and the National Institutes of Health (Institutional National Research Service Award). She was named a Young Investigator by the Society of Free Radical Biology and Medicine in 2007. |
