Ted C. Kennedy, co-founder of BE&K Inc., recently retired from the worldwide engineering, construction and contract maintenance firm. Under Kennedy's leadership, BE&K was named one of the top 16 medalist companies out of 300 companies honored in the book, Companies That Care - The Most Family-Friendly Companies in the United States. The company received five OSHA Star Awards, the highest safety level, presented by the U.S. Department of Labor. Kennedy graduated from Duke University in 1952 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and serves on that university's Board of Visitors. He has been a member of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) since 1972 and was elected a Fellow in 1993. He is chair of the A+ College Ready board, where he is spearheading a statewide initiative to establish advanced placement programs in Alabama's public schools. |
