On September 26, 2007, I attended my first lunch time meeting of the UAB EatRight program. I weighed in at 259.2 pounds, but a little less than three months later, on December 19, I was down to 227.1, and people are now asking me what I’ve been doing. I am happy to tell them about the EatRight program.
"First let me say that this is not a diet, but a change in the way you think about food." |
By that I mean that you learn the reasons why you eat wrong, and you learn simple but profound ways to correct bad habits that hinder your success in reaching a healthier weight. I started making wiser choices of the food I consumed, and it has become a habit. I eat foods I really enjoy, and I truly believe that anyone can find foods that will work for them.
Does it require commitment? Any goal that you seriously pursue does. But trust me, the reward is well worth the effort. I feel better, and plan to continue this life style change, for life! My long term goal would be to return to the waist size I was when I got married.
This chart shows the week to week change in my weight. I didn’t lose every week, but you can definitely see the downward trend.
| Week | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 9 | 10 | 11 | 12 | 13 | 14 |
| Weight | 259.2 | 252.7 | 249 | 248.2 | 243.9 | 245 | 241.7 | 242 | * | 235.2 | 233.9 | 233.3 | 227.1 |
This morning (1/26/08) I weighed 220 on my bathroom scales, so I’m approaching 40 pounds net weight loss.
EatRight is the right thing to do!
