Tuesday 03-10-2009 7:07am CT: NEW DISCOVERY....STAIRS! Thanks to my 50 lb weight loss with UAB Eatright, I'm now taking the stairs at work! Our radio studio is on the 5th floor. I had to FIND the stairs. I was an elevator guy...shocking I know. One of my fitness trainers, Brooks, has me up & down the stairs at UAB. She suggested I add a floor of stairs every few days at work too. Every little bit helps. Fifty pounds ago I could not do it. I broke a sweat tying my shoes....so I bought boots! I'm on my second 50 lb goal now. The food plan, fitness, and lifestyle classes have really been a complete package for me. There are multiple options at Eatright. Check them out now....do it for yourself. www.uab.edu/eatright -Steve Shannon
Wednesday 03-04-2009 8:54pm CT: A GOOD DAY! I hit my 50 lbs down mark at UAB Eatright today! Phase two....the next 50 lb goal starts now. In fitness training today I DANCED! Yes, the Electric Slide...or something similar! I danced like nobody was watching, BUT they were. My trainer today, Allison, was entertained to say the least. I lost 50 lbs and got my groove on......it was a good day! Producer W shot some video there today. Be watching for it here. If you want to lose weight & get healthy.... www.uab.edu/eatright -Steve Shannon
Wednesday 03-04-2009 2:08pm CT: JUST TWO MORE! "Just two more" is a favorite line of my fitness trainer, Allison. I told her that would make a great book title. Wednesday is the day I chose to be weighed, see Dr Ard, and attend a lifestyle class at UAB Eatright. My blood is taken and monitored every other week. One of my favorite parts of my visit is spent in the waiting room talking to others on the plan.We have become friends....all in it together. We share secrets about our successes and obstacles. I've found this time to be like therapy.....very helpful. I no longer feel like the lone ranger. We have all watched each other get smaller too! Eatright is really a full service plan.....to lose a little weight (25 lbs in 12 weeks) or a lot of weight. UAB Eatright Optifast is my plan. It is customized for what I need. Check it out....it may be your answered weight loss prayer. Visit www.uab.edu/eatright. PS. Did I mention I am so close to losing 50 lbs.....then another 50! I completed my first 5K walk! My blood pressure is down considerably. I feel great too.....more energy! -Steve Shannon
Monday 03-02-2009 2:30pm CT: 50 LBS G-O-N-E ! I am knocking on the 50 lb door since beginning at UAB Eatright! I am thrilled with the support provided too. My Doc, Jamy Ard, and his staff "get it." I regret wasting so much time "yo-yo" dieing. I gained the weight back. UAB Eatright offers LIFESTYLE CLASSES that are seriously invaluable. I learn things about what triggers my eating, keeping weight off, and share thoughts with other folks just like me. I look forward to my class. The FITNESS trainers, Brooks, Allison, and Christie, are a helpful value too...motivating me to MOVE and enjoy it! Their personalities and dedication are unmatched. They are an option as part of the various Eatright plans. I've met lots of our listeners (in lifestyle classes) who have joined UAB Eatright. I honestly thought the lifestyle class would be my least favorite part of the plan. It has become one of my favorites! It is very helpful. I'm thrilled to be shrinking along with our listeners weekly! Yes, the radio audience is shrinking....and that's a good thing in this case. There are men and women of all ages and sizes. From 25 lbs to lose to many more.....you will wish you had done this sooner....guaranteed. Finally, I'm losing weight and haven't been hungry.....thank you UAB Eatright! I'm saving a fortune on my grocery bill too!!! There are a variety of plans tailored to meet your unique needs. I personally do Eatright Optifast. Don't hesitate....visit www.uab.edu/eatright. Get ready for those summer beach trips! PS. I may buy a thong (NOT endorsed by my UAB Doc, Dr Ard, by the way)! -Steve Shannon
