Khurram Bashir, MD, MPH

Khurram Bashir

Dr. Bashir graduated from the University of Punjab with a B.Sc. in Anatomy and Physiology, and received his MD from the King Edward Medical College in Pakistan. He received his MPH from the UAB School of Public Health and, after completing his internship and post-graduate residency training in combined Internal Medicine and Neurology at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, returned to UAB to join the Department of Neurology as an Instructor and Fellow. He completed his advanced fellowship training in Neuro-Immunology and Multiple Sclerosis under the tutelage of (late) John N. Whitaker, MD. Dr. Bashir is currently an Associate Professor of Neurology and the DIrector of the Multiple Sclerosis Center at UAB, as well as Co-Director of CPODD. He has been honored with numerous awards, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Alabama Chapter's Health Professional of the Year Award and has been listed in the Best Doctors. He also co-authored a "Handbook of Multiple Sclerosis," among other publications.

Services offered: Dr. Bashir offers neurology consultation in addition to Dr. Ness. As an adult neurologist, Dr. Bashir establishes a baseline introduction and medical history with all new patients, in case their demyelination continues into adulthood.
