Forensic Accounting and Information Technology Auditing

Given the financial scandals that have plagued American companies, the faculty of UAB's Department of Accounting and Information Systems recognized the need for and developed a concentration in forensic accounting and information technology auditing that focuses on fraud examination techniques and a general understanding of fraud. The four-course forensics concentration is available to UAB accounting and information systems majors.

In the forensic courses, students are introduced to the basics of fraud, IT audits, fraud examination, and forensic accounting.  From the time the concentration was first announced, it received a considerable amount of interest from students and practitioners and is a very popular option.  Dr. Tommie Singleton directs the forensic accounting and IT auditing program.

Accounting and information systems majors may choose, as a part of or in addition to the courses required for the major, the following series of courses which make up the concentration:
