These are just of few of the many designated specialties you can get in the field of accounting. There are well over 30 specialties that can be obtained with an accounting degree. Accountants have the option of working in public accounting performing audit, tax and consulting services, for private companies, and for governmental entities just to name a few. Students can choose an area of concentration in forensic accounting and information technology auditing that focuses on fraud examination techniques and a general understanding of fraud. The four-course forensics concentration is available to UAB accounting and information systems majors.
