The average consumer seems to be spending less these days, worried about what the economy will do next. Now retailers look to find ways to get Americans to spend their ever tightening household budgets on their products. They are using ads that play on the tough economic times. One home depot ad even says, "We know times are tough."
UAB's Dr. Bob Robicheaux says retailers are being more sensitive to customer needs.
"Any retailer who is worth his salt should be out there working as hard as they can everyday to deliver better prices to their customers."
He says retailers are working with manufacturers to make better buys available to shoppers- because they know customers will be shopping around a lot.
