Center for Economic Education

The UAB Center for Economic Education (CEE) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization within the UAB School of Business that promotes economic and financial literacy by providing continuing economic education resources for K-12 teachers.

Affiliated with the Alabama Council on Economic Education (ACEE) and accredited by the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE) the UAB Center for Economic Education has reached over 1,900 teachers in the Greater Birmingham and Central Alabama area over the past 12 years.


Training for Teachers 

Training for in-service teachers for professional development contact hours is provided by the UAB Center for Economic Education through an affiliation with the UAB Regional In-Service Center and NCEE. 

"Economics for Educators", a college credit course is offered each spring for pre-service teachers pursuing social studies certification.

 
Student Programs

Programs provided through The UAB Economic Education Center to enhance K-12 teachers' and students' economic education experience:
The Alabama Economics Challenge occurs in the spring for high school students

Alabama Stock Market Simulation
 occurs in the fall and spring semester for Alabama students grades 5-12.
