  • The UAB School of Business consistently ranks among the top 10 metro, state business schools by U. S. News & World Report.


  • UAB Accounting graduates have achieved the highest scores in the state on the CPA exam nine out of the last eleven years and have earned first-time pass rates on the CPA exam that are 25% higher than the national average.


  • Accreditation by AACSB was achieved in 1973 in record time of just two years – never accomplished before or since then by any business school in the world.


  • The UAB accounting program was among the first 17 accounting programs to receive accreditation by AACSB the very first year the association began evaluating accounting programs in 1982.


  • The UAB program in Forensic Accounting and IT Auditing has gained national acclaim for excellence – CSI Birmingham.


  • Our school’s Finance program developed the Green and Gold Fund – a student managed portfolio - with assets of approximately $500,000.


  • The industrial distribution (ID) program is one of only two programs residing in accredited business and engineering schools in a 17-state area from Virginia to New Mexico.


  • The Ben S. Weil Chair of ID was the first endowed chair at UAB outside of the medical and health related schools.


  • The ID program recently started the Business Analysis Laboratory. Located in the Innovation Depot, the Lab provides a setting for students and faculty from the colleges of Business and Engineering to work together in cross-functional teams to help companies solve real business problems. The Lab offers UAB students a unique learning experience in how to conduct research, manage projects and develop strategic recommendations.


  • A new track of study was approved for the 2007 academic year to expand the focus of study in the ID major to include Medical Equipment & Supplies Distribution as well as the traditional Industrial Distribution track.


  • The business school has international initiatives in China, India, and Europe.


  • The UAB MBA program is recognized by The Princeton Review in its 2009 edition of "Best 296 Business Schools" as one of the best in the nation.
