UAB

Parking Permit

SA TDL 05: univ blvdGetting around UAB is easy. The university’s parking system and Birmingham’s city bus system are set up to accommodate thousands of students, faculty, staff, and visitors, but they are also quite simple to use.

How to Register for Parking

If you plan to park a vehicle (including motorcycles) in a UAB lot, first you must register with UAB Parking and Transportation Services. There you can complete the parking permit record form and either pay a fee or make arrangements to be billed each month, semester, or year. You will receive a hangtag designating the specific lot on campus where you can park. (Motorcycles get a permit to attach to the front fender.) Be sure to display this hangtag in your vehicle and park in your designated lot, or else you might get a citation or fine. You can apply for temporary or permanent handicapped parking by providing documentation of your disability. Metered parking is available on some streets on campus. Just remember that your parking hangtag won’t cover you at meters, and meters have varying rates and time restrictions.

How to Leave the Parking System

If you no longer want to park at UAB, visit Parking and Transportation Services and return all parking materials (including hangtags, permits, decals, or parkcards). If you do not do this, you will continue to be billed for parking fees. You cannot cancel parking by phone.
