U101:  Critical Thinking and the University Experience focuses on critical thinking skills necessary for success in academic courses across the university. As you complete course exercises, an advising assignment and a course project, you will learn how to use critical thinking strategies to make a successfrul transition into the university and enhance your college experience.

U101 is offered in two formats:

1) U101 is offered as an individual course for 3 semester hours credit. You will design the rest of your schedule to fit your needs and interests.

Example:

  • U101
  • English of your choice:  EH091, EH101, EH102, Literature (based on your placement)
  • Math
  • Core II Arts & Humanities
  • Core IV History or Social Behavioral Sciences

2) U101 is also offered as the anchor course for a Freshman Learning Community that includes two other core courses.  These linked courses will involve some common content, activity or other types of integration.

If you are admitted conditionally you must take University 101 in either format you choose.  Print off an FYE worksheet from the links on the left sidebar and write down the University 101 course(s) you would prefer to take.

If you were not admitted conditionally, you may choose a U101 course or click NEXT and proceed to the next group of FYE course choices.
