What is Advanced Placement?

Many high schools across the United States participate in the Advanced Placement Program (AP). High school students who participate in the AP Program are exposed to college-level material through AP courses and take AP exams to demonstrate their mastery of the material. Students may be able to earn college credit based on the AP exam scores.

Visit www.uab.edu/AP for more inforamtion.

If you have Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB) , DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST), military or other alternative credits, the Office of Academic Programs and Policy will evaluate such credits according to current UAB policies and eligibility requirements. Eligible credits will be posted on your transcript when you have enrolled at UAB and after the drop/add date has passed.

All students must request the appropriate testing program have an official score report sent directly to the UAB Academic Programs and Policy office (located in the Hill University Center, Suite 470) so that the credit may be evaluated, e.g., contact AP for Advanced Placement test scores. Transfer students must also have an official score report sent from the particular program for re-evaluation of credit in accordance with the current policies.
