A Freshman Learning Communities (FLC) will help you do all this and get the most out of your first semester at UAB. By being enrolled with the same group of students in at least three of the same courses (all linked by a common theme), a new freshman in an FLC will have a ready-made community of study buddies who will be with you during class times but also outside of class for projects and social events connected to your FLC.

Another benefit of choosing to be in an FLC is having instructors who take a special and personalized interest in your progress since FLCs are taught by some of UAB’s best teachers!

FLCs offer convenient schedules, extracurricular opportunities, and courses with related subject matter and assignments. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and most FLCs are limited to 25 students.
