Meet the Staff

Alumni: Becky WatsonAssociate Vice President
Alumni Affairs & Annual Giving

Rebecca received her BA in 1986 and MA in 1988 both from the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences from UAB. Becky had been an active alumna for many years prior to joining the staff in 2003, and served as a volunteer to the Board of Directors for the National Alumni Society in many leadership capacities. Additionally, she formerly owned and operated Connections, Inc., a market research company located in Mountain Brook, Alabama. She is also co-founder of Voir Dire, a litigation research firm also located in Birmingham.  


Alumni: Jennifer BrelandDirector of Alumni Programs

Jennifer came to UAB in July 2000 to work with UAB Creative & Marketing Group before joining the Office of Alumni Affairs in September 2003. She graduated from Auburn University in August 1998 with a degree in Accounting and from UAB in December 2002 with a Masters in Business Administration.


Alumni: Yvette White

Director of Operations

Yvette came to UAB in August of 1990 after working as a Purchase Order Coordinator for the Montgomery County Board of Education for twelve years. She graduated from the Washington School of Business in Washington, D.C. in 1975.


Brett Burkes

Office Support Specialist III, Membership Services Coordinator

Brett joined the Alumni Affairs staff in June 2010 after working for the UAB New Student Orientation office as an assistant. He graduated from UAB in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.


Alumni: Christian BushellDatabase Manager

Christian came to UAB in June 2004 after working as a systems administrator for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill for eight years. He graduated in May 2003 from Jefferson State Community College with two associate degrees in Information Systems - one in Computer Programming and another in Microcomputer applications. He graduated in December 2003 with a third associate degree in Information Systems - Web Technologies. He also obtained an SQL Development certificate from UAB in March 2007.


Jeanne Hankins
Administrative Support Specialist

Jeanne came to work for UAB with the Facilities Division in August, 2008 before joining the Alumni Affairs staff in June, 2011.  She graduated with honors from Strayer University in Arlington, Va. with an associate in arts degree in Business Administration.  Jeanne has more than 20 years of professional experience working for private industry and the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C.


Alumni: Loretta JacksonInformation Services

Loretta came to UAB in August 2004. She received an associate degree in Business in 1979 from Sawyer Business College in Hammond, IN and an associate degree in Computer Networking Technology in 2004 from Remington College in Colorado Springs, CO.

Heather Saunier
Alumni Affairs Specialist I, Alumni Relations

Heather joined the Alumni Affairs staff in January of 2006.  She attended Jacksonville State University before coming to UAB as a student in the marketing program.  Heather received her Bachelor's degree from the UAB School of Business in December of 2005.

Andy Wallace
Alumni Affairs Specialist II, Alumni House Events Manager

Andy joined the Alumni Affairs staff in the fall of 2007.  A graduate of Auburn University, Andy has more than 20 years of professional experience with the UAB community including University Hospital and the School of Nursing.
