Timothy Kraft, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the UAB School of Optometry who works in the Department of Vision Sciences. Through is lab in the UAB Vision Science Research Center, Kraft is known for improving the understanding of the physiology and biophysics of the photoreceptors in the retina and how that ties to signaling to the brain. He also studies the progressive loss of photoreceptor signaling in retinal disease. Kraft is an expert marksman who has competed against and worked with members of the U.S. Olympic pistol team to test pistol gunsight design.
