Bharat K. Soni, Ph.D., is the chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Also a professor of mechanical engineering, Dr. Soni's research interests include studies in computational science and engineering with an emphasis on computational field simulation, grid/mesh generation and adaptation, visualization and virtual reality, computer aided geometry design, multidisciplinary design and optimization, and high performance computing.
Dr. Soni has a long history of contributions in cross-disciplinary research, education and technology transfer with a focus on the underlying science and enabling technologies in computational simulations and associated enabling technologies (including visualization, virtual reality, image processing, immersive 3D environments) and their application to a wide spectrum of disciplines including aerospace, automotive, general engineering and science, home land security, energy and environment, health care, medicine and dentistry.
