Waldemar Carlo, M.D., is professor of pediatrics, Edwin M. Dixon Chair in Neonatology and director of the division of neonatology at UAB. He also is director of the regional neonatal intensive care unit at UAB and the neonatal intensive care unit at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. Carlo is a renowned authority on mechanical ventilation of neonates with severe respiratory failure.
