Edward Partridge, M.D., is the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center director and president-elect of the American Cancer Society (ACS) National Board of Directors. A renowned women's cancer doctor and leader in the fight to reduce race- and ethnicity-based cancer disparities, Partridge holds the UAB Evalina B. Spencer Chair in Oncology. He is a native of Demopolis, Ala., who graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham's School of Medicine in 1973. He has spent his entire career at UAB, where he was also an ACS Clinical Fellow. Partridge's early work helped gain Alabama participation in the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, which allows women diagnosed with an abnormal mammogram to receive treatment regardless of financial means.
