Charles Amsler, Ph.D., associate professor of biology, is an expert in how organisms perceive, respond to, and interact with their chemical environments. A relatively new but major area of his research focuses on chemical interactions between organisms. He is also an expert in the ecophysiology of algae. A frequent visitor to Antarctica, Amsler studies the chemical defenses of marine organisms and is an expert on the frozen continent. Amsler's research has been published by a number of noteworthy journals, including Nature, Marine Biology and American Scientist.
