The UAB Discussion Book Committee invites you to nominate a book to be considered for next year's UAB Discussion Book. It should be a book appropriate for college freshmen, as well as of potential interest to the entire UAB community. The goal of the Discussion Book initiative is to unite the UAB community in promoting civic involvement and the practice of open, safe, respectful dialogue about often controversial issues.
The UAB Discussion Book Committee reviews eligible nominations generally before October 1 and prepares a short list to be forwarded to the President, who makes the final selection. An eligible nomination includes the title and author of the book, the date of publication, and sufficient information about the book's content to provide a basis for understanding its appropriateness for nomination. Books must be available in paperwork to receive serious consideration.
