Teaching Modules

These teaching modules were developed within the 2006 and 2007 UAB Freshman Learning Communities "Exploring Birmingham" and "Contemporary Moral and Social Issues."  The objective was to encourage democratic dialogue and civic engagement among UAB undergraduates about a number of difficult issues facing us as a society.  In the spirit of The Difficult Dialogues Initiative, these curriculum supplements are designed to promote an understanding of the ways in which racial, ethnic, and class differences have impacted contemporary American life in terms of housing, jobs, access to services, and ethical treatment in medical research.
