The CPL provides diagnostic support of the Animal Resources Program's responsibility to render proper veterinary care for UAB's research animals, including analyzing clinical samples and and conducting necropsies on animals submitted by ARP clinical veterinarians. Such necropsies are conducted in cases of unexplained illness or death, or when experimentally induced illness or deaths occur, if the clinical veterinarian judges it necessary to help the investigator.
