Project Description: The Deep South Network for Cancer Control Program is a community-based participatory research project that utilizes a Community Health Advisors Model to develop research interventions designed to eliminate cancer health disparities by increasing access to care and cancer screening. The program targets underserved African-American Communities in Alabama and Mississippi. The program has 4 research interventions: physical activity, nutrition, cancer awareness and advocacy in which the local communities are engaged and actively implementing the program. The project uses a multi-layered logics model approach in the assessment of participants' activities.
Intern's Anticipated Duties:
Duty 1: Conducting data analysis through participants interview
Duty 2: Developing educational materials for community education, including some presentations
Duty 3: Entering data and assisting data team
Preceptor will provide intern with access to the following: office or desk space; computer and printer; supplies needed to complete project; equipment needed to complete project
