Project Description: The Center for the Study of Community Health in the UAB School of Public Health is focused on interventions to improve the health of Alabama Communities through multiple approaches and modes of communication.  Within the Center, the Health Communications Unit develops and evaluates health promotion activities focused primarily on risk behaviors including smoking, inactivity, and poor diet.  Interns assist with the development of materials such as training manuals, pamphlets, and brochures with specific health promotion messages, media based messages (e.g. PSA's, radio programs) and help collect data related to these activities in the community.

Intern's Anticipated Duties:
Duty 1: Assist Health Communications Unit with design, layout, editing of printed health promotion materials
Duty 2: Manage projects for production by outside facilities such as printing companies, video production, etc.
Duty 3: Interact with community members to collect data and implement risk reduction activities.  This includes traveling to rural Alabama communities.

Preceptor will provide intern with access to the following: office or desk space; computer and printer; supplies needed to complete project
