
Multiple data collection sources were used to measure the progress of UAB ADVANCE toward meeting goals stated in the proposal. these include:
- Annual reports
- Quarterly reports
- Interviews with research grant awardees;
- Results of NSF indicators;
- NSF indicators;
- Presentation for year 3 site visit;
- Town Hall meetings conducted by CSW during spring 2006.
UAB NSF Indicators for 2005
The following data are mandated by NSF to be collected at each of the nineteen ADVANCE Institutional Transformation Awardees:
- Number and percent of women faculty in science/engineering by department
- Number and percent of women in tenure-line positions by rank and department
- Tenure promotion outcomes by gender
- Years in rank by gender
- Time at institution and attrition by gender
- Number of women in science and engineering who are in non-tenure track positions (teaching and research)
- Number and percent of women scientists and engineers in administrative positions as compared to men
- Number of women science and engineering faculty in endowed/named chairs.
- Number and percent of women science and engineering faculty in endowed/named chairs
- Salary of science and engineering faculty by gender (controlling for department, rank, years in rank)
- Space allocation of science and engineering faculty by gender (with additional controls such as department, etc.)
- Start-up packages of newly hired science and engineering science and engineering faculty by gender (with additional controls such as field/department, rank, etc.)
