The purpose of this program is to bring distinguished female scientists and engineers to the UAB campus in order to increase the visibility of women scholars within the hosting department/school and to provide UAB faculty with the opportunity to interact with these scholars. Bringing women scholars who will energize faculty, bring creative ideas, and offer the potential for collaboration are best suited for funding by this program. We anticipate that most Visiting Scholars will come for a one- to three-day period, meet with faculty and students in their discipline, present one or more seminars and/or colloquia, and possibly share with UAB women faculty and students their personal experiences in successfully advancing their professional career.
Nominations for Visiting Scholars are welcomed by ADVANCE and will be reviewed by the steering committee which meets during the last week of every month.
