UAB ADVANCE faculty research awards and supplemental start-up funds for new faculty are available through UAB ADVANCE for tenure-track and tenured faculty, as well as new faculty, in the Schools of Engineering, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Finance, Economics, and Quantitative Methods in the School of Business.
There are three awards available to faculty in all ADVANCE departments: the UAB ADVANCE Supplemental Start-up Funds awards, the UAB ADVANCE Junior Faculty Research Award, and the UAB ADVANCE Senior Faculty Research Award. The purpose of these awards is to provide support for research for women faculty in the targeted schools and departments. In addition, all junior and senior faculty in these schools and departments can request funding for research addressing gender equity issues in these disciplines.
In addition, there is a UAB ADVANCE Leadership Program, ADVANCE Scholars, who server as liasons to their schools: Natural Science and Mathematics, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Engineering.
