Two leaders from first round ADVANCE schools serve as external advisors for the project: Dr. Pat Hyer, Virginia Tech and Dr. Sue Rosser, Georgia Tech. Additionally, Shirley Malcom, Head, Education and Human Resources for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) serves as an advisor for UAB ADVANCE.The three together provide guidance on program implementation and strategies for effective institutional transformation.
