
Welcome to the Department of Occupational Therapy at UAB! This is such an exciting time in our profession and here at UAB. We are a nationally ranked program in the country (17th) and have talented and renowned faculty that you will work with in your OT studies. The faculty and students are involved in research, community service and quality academic programming.
Occupational therapy is a vast profession which embodies the profound understanding of 'occupations' for everyday people as well as those who have incurred injury, delay or impairment. We are a profession which helps people return to or embrace the fullest engagement in life activities that is possible. Our professions brand is "Living life to its fullest"! Sometimes this means assisting people with disabilities to live life to its fullest and other times it is promoting health, wellness and life activities for individuals, communities and populations.
In your graduate studies here at UAB you will be exposed to numerous resources both within the Department of Occupational Therapy, the School of Health Professions and the University itself. UAB is one of the nation's best academic and medical centers and we, like you are proud to be a part of the UAB family.
